The transport industry has been gradually but surely, moving towards the world of technology and automation. Although, it by no means implies that driverless cars have become a common phenomenon, the transport sector has been using different types of software to cut down on cost. This happened due to the narrowing down of processes and services provided by the taxi business themselves. The taxi app design is usually geared towards the customers booking the taxi booking the taxi for themselves and conveniences the businesses. There are five necessary technologies to execute automation in the taxi app business:
1. Driver App:
In the taxi business, the companies tend to measure their success depending on the number of drivers that they have the capability to hire and the retention of drivers to their business. This is because the drivers are the essential mediums that bring in the revenues for these taxi businesses and for the industry to flourish, it is necessary to make sure that the requirements of the drivers are met and the drivers are content in working for the business organization. Therefore, there should necessarily be an interface or application through which the companies employ drivers and communicate with them frequently and provide the drivers with detailed instructions on keeping their customers satisfied. This would ultimately lead to the drivers earning more money, fulfilling their needs eventually. The app is one that assists the drivers in updating their regular status like arriving at the customer’s doorstep while also allowing them to inform the company of their earnings and number of trips. These apps can also render information about jobs to the drivers along with informing the drivers of the places where the fares are the highest. These assist the driver in increasing their pay, leading to them being satisfied.
2. Booking and Dispatch System:
The saying goes, ‘Time is Money’, and somehow this system seems to save both time and money through an app facilitating the process of booking. Earlier, the process for booking a cab involved the customer calling up the company and booking the cab through the operator at the call centre. This would lead to a lot of tasks to finally the customer arriving at their destination and the driver again goes for their next booking. Presently, through the availability of taxi app design, the whole process gets automated and the drivers are the only ones that do not get replaced by technology. The rest of the booking process is taken care of by the app, thus getting rid of manual work which had to be paid for and took time. The fares of the cabs too keep changing in response to peak times and off hours, thus not requiring the calculations done by people. It is more secure for the passengers as the app helps track the cab till the passenger arrives at their destination.
3. Phone System:
The phone system works in a manner wherein there is a software that facilitates interaction between the customers and the taxi companies while booking cabs. The previous systems worked in such a way that the telephone operators talked to the customers, confirmed their booking and informed them of the location of their assigned cab and the duration it would take for the cab to arrive. However, in this type of system, the phone number of the previous callers or customers is saved and an automated voice confirms if their pickup location remains the same. Nowadays, the Interactive Voice Response is used, which asks for the details of their pickup and drop-off destinations, and inputs the details in the system at a quick pace. This system can handle multiple calls at the same time and confirm bookings simultaneously. The customers are connected to a human operator only when they have a query or complaint that they need to clear out and this option is provided while calling on the system.
4. Passenger App:
The bookings for cabs in the present scenario or any B2C transaction for that matter is sure to involve a smartphone device with an app that facilitates it. The private cab companies no longer receive bookings manually; they have resorted to bookings via app such that a majority of bookings are made online as these are seen as safe by the consumer and found to be convenient for the companies. One of the major reasons that consumers prefer online bookings is because the companies provide minimal prices online and cost less than offline bookings.
5. Analyzing Statistics:
All the businesses that have brought in automation as a part of the taxi businesses and have supported taxi app design, have a database prepared and store data which they can later peruse and analyze. This helps them make decisions for the future and improve their services further. The data is brought in from different sources from the app and software used by the business, thus helping the business look into certain patterns and trends and figure out ways to capitalize on those to earn even higher profits. These analytics can let the company know if a driver plans to leave beforehand, thus giving them a chance to retain the employee.
